Center
for Disabilities and Development Respite Service
The
Center for Disabilities and Development Respite Service offers
short-term, temporary respite care for people with disabilities.
The care is year 'round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week on
a space-available basis. Advance notice is preferred, but in
some situations, care may be arranged with only a few hours'
notice.
People
of all ages, with a wide range of disabilities, including people
with severe, multiple disabilities, can use the service. It is
also available for individuals who:
- have
affective disorders but are on stable medication;
- have
asthma;
- have
behavior disorders but currently have an effective treatment
plan;
- have
diabetes with stable blood sugar and eating patterns;
- are
totally dependent;
- require
PO (by mouth) feeding;
- need
gastrostomy or NG-tube feeding;
- need
catheterization;
- have
seizures;
- need
ventilator care; or
- are
not expected to require emergency care.
The
service is not available for individuals who are actively suicidal,
likely to run away, criminally violent or aggressive, or subject
to unpredictable manic episodes.

special needs at home. The family's net income must be under
$40,000 per year. There is a waiting list.
