Center for Disease Control and Prevention Health Topics: Infants and Children
Provides information on health topics from a-z for infants and children.

Poison Control
Provides information on poison prevention, seasonal hazards, activities & games and newsletters & brochures on different poisons and poison safety. 

Lead Poisoning Prevention
Offers information on childhood lead poisoning prevention, eliminating lead hazards in the home and testing for lead poisoning.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
Offers information on which toys and products are safe and which are not safe to have in your home.

Reducing the Risk of SIDS – Back to Sleep Campaign
The Back to Sleep campaign provides a variety of publications on the importance of placing babies on their backs to sleep to help reduce the risk of SIDS.

University of Iowa Virtual Pediatric Hospital
This is a virtual library of a wide range of pediatric information on topics including: car seats/child safety seats, childhood falls, fire safety, poison prevention, lead poisoning, pedestrian/bicycle safety, sun protection and toy safety.

Injury Prevention/Safe Kids
Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under.

Transportation Safety
This site provides information on child seat safety, bus safety and air bag safety.

Choking Safety
Provides information on choking prevention in the home and in child care settings, quick facts on choking and injury prevention and first aid treatment of choking occurs.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
This site includes information about lead regulations and policies, training resources and materials, and lead poisoning prevention programs.

National Lead Information Center (NLIC)
This site provides information about lead hazards and their prevention. Information specialists are available to answer questions about lead-based paint hazards, lead abatement, and control and risk-assessment methods.

National Safety Council (NSC)
Provides information about outreach meeting and training sessions that will give community-based organizations the tools and skills to help plan and implement successful lead poisoning prevention programs in their communities.

Provides information on everything you need to know about all the common and not-so-common infections.

National Immunization Program
This site provides a recommended list of vaccinations or shots to be given to your child at different ages.

American Academy of Pediatrics
Offers a wide range of information and resources on child health topics including: ADHD, autism, breastfeeding, car safety seats, developmental stages, immunizations and obesity.

Child Health Specialty Clinics
The Child Health Specialty Clinics works to improve the health, development and well-being of children and youth with special health care needs. Some of their services include: coordination of care for families, family support, continuity of care, autism program and child health.  The site will provide a listing of the regional CHSC and the parent consultants at each regional center. 

Healthy Families Line
This is a toll free line that provides information to parents on topics including: immunizations for children, prenatal/maternal health, infant/child health, domestic abuse, adolescent health, pregnancy, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, child care and much more.  

Kids Health
Provides information for kids, teenagers and parents on health issues. 

Handwashing (PDF)
Provides information on when to wash your hands, diaper changing tips and the importance of having clean hands, especially during mealtime.

Local Child Health Agencies
There are 24agencies that provide child health services in all 99 counties for children and youth ages 0 to 21. The child health clinics provide the following screening services: history, physical examinations, vision and hearing screening, dental education and referral, health education, immunizations, developmental assessment, nutrition and psychosocial screening and laboratory tests including lead screening.

Local Maternal Health Agencies
There are24 local based maternal health clinics that provide prenatal and postpartum care to Medicaid eligible and other low income women. Services include medical and dental assessment, health and nutrition education, psychosocial screening and referral, care coordination, assistance with plans for delivery and postpartum home visiting.

Iowa Immunization Law
Provides information on the current immunization laws.
