Janet Horras has over twenty years of experience in the family support field. She has been employed by the state of Iowa since 1999. She currently works for the Iowa Department of Management in the Office of Empowerment as the Family Support Coordinator. Janet previously was employed by the Iowa Department of Human Rights in the Division of Community Action Agencies. At DHR, Janet was the team leader for the Family Development and Self Sufficiency (FaDSS) program and was the liaison to the Community Empowerment State Technical Assistance Team. Janet also has experience working in a variety of family support programs at the community level including providing home visitation services to families.
Janet has a BA degree in Human Services. She has also earned the Certified Community Action Professional designation and is a certified Family Development Specialist.
Together, Janet and her husband have five sons and three daughters. They have also been blessed with six grandsons all under the age of five! Her children and grandchildren keep her well grounded in the joys and frustrations of parenting.
