A Special Message to Iowa's Service Members and Families

Attorney General Tom Miller thanks those uniformed Iowans who are serving overseas, and thanks families for their great sacrifice.  Miller reminds these deployed service members that federal and state laws, including the federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Iowa National Guard Civil Relief Act, extend them special protections.  These protections include:

• Mortgage relief
• Protection from termination of leases
• Eviction protection
• A delay of legal proceedings
• Protection and reopening of default judgments
• 6 percent mortgage rate interest cap
