Charges filed vs. Bobby Beckman

The Attorney General’s Office has filed two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree vs. Bobby Beckman, an inmate at the Iowa Penitentiary in Ft. Madison.  [Go to Trial Information.]

The trial information filed April 16 alleged Beckman committed sexual abuse at the Penitentiary by force and against the will of a male victim (another inmate) and/or against a person suffering from a mental defect or incapacity which precluded giving consent.   The alleged sexual abuse occurred on Jan. 1, 2010.  One count related to alleged oral contact and one count related to alleged anal contact, according to the trial information.

Judge William L. Dowell set bond in the amount of $25,000 and set arraignment for 8 a.m. April 30, 2010, at the Lee County Court House.

Sexual abuse in the third degree is a Class C felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison and a fine of $1,000 to $10,000.

Beckman (DOB 4-5-82) is serving a 20-year sentence for Sex Abuse Third Degree (10 Years) and Fleeing State to Avoid Prosecution (5 Years) from Clay County, and Interference with Correctional Worker (5 Years) from Lee County.  The current sentence began on November 6, 2004, and is due to expire October 14, 2014.
