Corwin Ritchie Named Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator in the Attorney General's Office
Des Moines-- Attorney General Tom Miller announced today that he has appointed Corwin Ritchie of Storm Lake to be the Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator. Ritchie will head a division of the Attorney General's Office that works closely with county attorneys and organizes efforts to strengthen skills and training of prosecutors throughout the state.
Ritchie assumes the post on Sept. 5. He will lead efforts to provide training conferences and seminars and other coordination for county attorneys and prosecutors. Ritchie's appointment was made following a unanimous resolution of support from the Prosecuting Attorneys Training Council, a committee of county attorneys and the Attorney General or his designee.
Ritchie also will serve as executive director of the Iowa County Attorneys Association. He succeeds Dave Welu in the dual appointment. Welu recently joined the office of Polk County Attorney John Sarcone after six years as Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator.
Ritchie has practiced law for 25 years in Storm Lake, including serving as Buena Vista County Attorney from 1979-95 and as an assistant Buena Vista County Attorney from 1975-79. He is a long-time member and former president of the Iowa County Attorneys Association. He received his law degree with distinction from the University of Iowa in 1975 and his bachelors from Iowa State.
"Corwin brings tremendous stature and experience as a prosecutor to the Coordinator position," Miller said. "His thoughtfulness and dedication to the profession will be an asset to our office and the County Attorneys Association."
