Dennis Johnson Named Solicitor General of Iowa
Des Moines-- Attorney General Tom Miller has appointed Dennis Johnson of Des Moines to be Solicitor General of Iowa. The Solicitor General serves as chief legal advisor to the Attorney General.
"I am elated that Dennis is joining the Attorney General's Office," Miller said. "He is an exceptional litigator and is very highly regarded in the legal community. Dennis continues a tradition of excellence and commitment to public service established by Mark Schantz and Bess Osenbaugh, two distinguished previous Solicitor Generals."
Johnson most recently was head of the litigation department at the Des Moines regional law office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP. He is a certified civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has practiced law in Des Moines since 1978.
Johnson was born and raised in Cedar Rapids. He attended Regis High School and received his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1972.
Johnson graduated with high distinction from the University of Iowa Law School in 1975 and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Iowa Law Review.
Johnson is married to Ann Marie Brick. They have two children, Jennifer and Andy.
