State settles another portion of TouchPlay litigation
Statement of the Iowa Attorney General’s Office:
The Attorney General’s Office has reached another settlement regarding TouchPlay litigation, in this instance with Mark Jacobs doing business as B & B Games, based in Ankeny. The State agreed to make a payment of $388,000 to Jacobs.
The State denied any wrongdoing, and the settlement acknowledges the denial of liability. The settlement was approved by the State Appeal Board.
Jacobs was a plaintiff in the case captioned Jeffrey Siggins et al. v. Thomas J. Vilsack et al., in Polk County District Court. Jacobs d/b/a B&B Games will dismiss its lawsuit. (Numerous other plaintiffs remain in that litigation.)
The Attorney General’s Office considers the resolution a fair and reasonable settlement of the litigation, in light of the complexity of the case, the potential exposure to the State, and other pending litigation involving TouchPlay. [Go to TouchPlay litigation chronology and summary.]
