Charges Filed in Humboldt County Missing Public Money Case

(DAKOTA CITY, Iowa)  The Iowa Attorney General filed a criminal complaint against Lorie Lynn Bennett, 39, a/k/a Lorie Lynn Ricklefs, charging her with two counts of Theft in the First Degree, both Class C felonies, and one count of Felonious Misconduct in Office, a Class D felony.  The defendant is the former City Administrator for the City of Humboldt and served as Treasurer on the Mid-Iowa Growth Partnership (MIGP) Board.

Bennett was arrested by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, following an arrest warrant issued Wednesday.  She appeared before Humboldt County Magistrate Greg Stoebe, and was released on her own recognizance.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
