Our Mission
The mission of the Office of Consumer Advocate is to represent Iowa consumers and the public interest in all forums with the goal of maintaining safe, reliable, reasonably-priced, and nondiscriminatory utility services for all consumers in all market settings while informing and educating the public on utility related issues.
Consumer Advocate
Iowa's Consumer Advocate is Mark Schuling.
Consumer Advisory Panel
The Consumer Advisory Panel was created by the legislature in 1983. The panel consists of nine members who represent diverse interests from across the state of Iowa. Five members are appointed by the Attorney General and four members are appointed by the Governor. The Consumer Advisory Panel meets at the request of the Consumer Advocate for consultation regarding public utility issues.
