Application Form
This is to allow
architects to receive authorization to practice as a firm of architects in Iowa.
All persons or
entities that represent themselves as a business practicing architecture
must acquire an authorization to Practice as a Business Entity. This
requirement applies to Iowa
and out-of-state sole practitioners, partnerships, business corporations,
foreign professional corporations and registered limited liability
partnerships in accord with Iowa Code section 544A.21.
For the purposes of
Iowa Code section 544A.21, the board established policy that a sole
proprietor shall be defined as an architect having one or more registered
architects in their employment.
A sole proprietor
must have an authorization to practice architecture if they practice under
a fictitious name.
The board requests a
copy of the documents submitted to the secretary of state and/or for
articles of organization or annual report for Limited Liability Company and
Domestic Professional Corporation.
There is no fee for
reporting this information for the Limited Liability Company or Domestic
(in-state) Professional Corporation.
