Land Surveyors Applications


FS EXAM APPLICANTS

All FS exam applicants must apply to the Iowa Board and be approved before registering for the exam with NCEES.

FS exams are offered by NCEES during four 2-month windows throughout the year. Applications must be sent to the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examining Board, and must adhere to the following deadlines:

  • Postmarked on or before October 15 for the January/February window
     
  • Postmarked on or before February 15 for the April/May window
     
  • Postmarked on or before April 15 for the July/August window
     
  • Postmarked on or before August 15 for the October/November window

Upon passing the FS exam your land surveyor intern certificate will automatically be mailed to you.

 

PLS EXAM APPLICANTS

ALL PLS examination applications must be sent directly to the Board, and must be postmarked on or before January 15 for the April examinations and on or before July 15 for the October examinations. Additional examination information can be found elsewhere on this Website.

The following pages contain the instructions and forms necessary to apply for engineering examinations and licensure by comity.

PLS Project Statement Form

Land Surveyor Reference form  MUST REMAIN IN SEALED,
   SIGNED ENVELOPES 

  • Comity applicants will need 3 copies of the reference form.
  • PLS examination applicants will need 5 copies of the reference form.

Land Surveyor Intern Reference  MUST REMAIN IN SEALED, SIGNED ENVELOPES

  • FLS examination applicants with an experience requirement will need 3 copies of the Intern reference form. (Applicants with an ABET/EAC or CEAB accredited engineering or surveying and mapping degree with at least six semester hours of surveying or mapping do not have an experience requirement and do not need to provide references. Applicants with a non-ABET/EAC four-year surveying and mapping degree must submit only one reference.)

Transcript(s) - MUST COME DIRECTLY FROM COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TO
   THE IOWA BOARD

Verification of Record

Ethics Questionnaire  You will need to review Iowa Administrative Rules Chapter 193C and Iowa Code 542B to complete the Ethics Questionnaire.

Tutelage by Unlicensed Supervisor Form  MUST REMAIN IN SEALED,    SIGNED ENVELOPE(S)
