COMMISSION MINUTES
Present: James Hughes, Chair; Patty Daniels, Laurie Dawley, James O'Neill and Donald

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion made by Daniels, second Marple, to enter into closed session pursuant to Iowa
Code 21.5(1)(d) and 21.5 (1)(f). Roll call vote as follows: O'Neill, aye; Daniels, aye;
Marple, aye; and Hughes, aye (Dawley arrived at 9:15 a.m. not present at time of vote).
Commission entered into closed session at 9:05 a.m. and arose there from at 1:00 p.m.
CASE REVIEW
Motion made by Daniels, second Marple, to approve salesperson application on Case
04-087. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Marples, second Daniels, to close Cases 03-037, 04-003, 04-004, 04-021,
04-034, 04-035, 04-038, 04-039, 04-042, 04-047, 04-046, 04-048, 04-053, 04-067, 04-066,
04-065, 04-063, 04-064, 04-069, 04-023, 04-024, 04-036, A04-0019, A04-0049 and A04-0076.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by O'Neill, second Dawley, to find probable cause on Cases 03-095, 04-045,
04-049, A04-0025, A04-036, A04-054, A04-058 and A04-066. Motion carried unanimously.
MINUTES
Motion made by Dawley, second Marple, to approve June 17, 2004 minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.

COMMISSIONER REPORTS
O'Neill reported he attended the ARELLO Conference from June 24-26 in Charleston, South
Carolina. The Conference was informative and well worth attending.
Marple reported he has received a request from the Quad Cities Area Realtor's
Association for representatives from the Commission to attend a board meeting to give a
briefing on policies and procedures. More information to follow.
Dawley reported she has been invited to give a presentation about Commission issues to
Skogman commercial realtors in August. In addition, she reported she had contact with a
licensee concerning the Commission's opinion regarding dual rate commissions. Griebel
suggested Dawley advise the person to make written request to the Commission
office through regular procedure.
STAFF REPORTS
Griffel reported on the Commission's newsletter, specifically addressing articles from
staff on relevant articles pertaining to trust accounts and licensing.
King reported the Commission continues to see an increase in the number of new
salespersons licensing.
Hansen reported the database conversion project is ongoing and on schedule.
Evans reported he continues to conduct field audits, with over 100 performed to date.
PUBLIC COMMENT
McLaughlin had to leave, but left written notes with Daniels to present as follows:
The IAR golf outing is scheduled for July 26, 2004.
The next IAR meeting is scheduled for October 10-14, 2004, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The
national conference is scheduled for November 5-8, 2004, in Orlando, Florida.
The IAR legislative committee is considering two items for the 2005 Iowa legislature,
minimum service criteria for licensees and referral fee issues.
MEETING ADJOURNED
Motion made by Dawley, second O'Neill, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting
adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
