This vacancy is to provide administrative support to two Board members. Principle duties include maintaining electronic calendars; scheduling and coordinating meeting and travel arrangements; organizing material for hearings and decision meetings; receiving and screening phone calls and visitors; preparing correspondence and other documents; maintaining and organizing records, files, and correspondence; and coordinating work with other support staff. This position will also assist other administrative staff with employee benefits and payroll.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook is expected. Excellent proofreading and editing skills are preferred.

This vacancy is with the Safety and Engineering Section of the Iowa Utilities Board. Duties involve protecting the public safety through inspection of natural gas utility and pipeline company facilities and operations for compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation pipeline safety regulations and other Utilities Board rules, including investigation of natural gas incidents and customer complaints, and preparation of federal and state reports, letters, and related documentation. This position also assists with the review of petitions for natural gas pipeline permits and related field work, including drafting of letters and reports. Other duties include evaluation of utility inspection and maintenance plans and other plans and procedures and assistance with office records and record reviews. 

Must be able to work independently and without immediate supervision in and out of the office. Occasional travel, some overnight, sometimes out of state, will be necessary. Good oral and written communication skills are needed. Applicants must have computer skills necessary for document preparation, electronic communication, and electronic filing.
