Speech to Speech (STS) is a specialized relay service for use by persons who have difficulty speaking. It involves the use of specially trained Communication Assistants (CAs) who understand the speech patterns of persons with speech difficulties and can repeat the words spoken. STS gives persons with speech difficulties an efficient alternative to using a TTY (text telephone, where the user must type in what s/he wishes to say).
