The Best Practices Program was designed by the Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) to encourage health care providers and suppliers to share new or innovate methods to care for their residents. Rather than evaluate Best Practices submitted by long-term care facilities, all best practices received by the Department will be posted to this website so that they may be shared with other facilities and programs. Best Practices submissions now are accepted from the broadest range of providers, including nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities, residential care facilities, assisted living programs, elder group homes, etc.
All health care providers and suppliers are encouraged to review the Best Practices posted on this website, and replicate the success experienced by other facilities and programs. In order to facilitate the posting of Best Practices, a template has been developed for use by facilities and programs. The Department reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity and brevity. Posting of a Best Practice to the website does not constitute an endorsement by the Department of any particular method, nor does it establish a standard of care or service. Best Practices are simply success stories to be shared among and between Iowa's health care providers and suppliers. Facilities and other providers may view or download a list of Best Practices categories or a copy of the Best Practices template.
