Online License Center

The Online License Center enables RNs and LPNs to renew their nursing license and to make their own address changes.

REQUIREMENT: An Email address is required when renewing online.

(NOTE: If you are an LPN in Iowa and have applied for the RN Exam, you will need to direct your change of address to the New Licensure Department Email or FAX the change to 515/281-4825–Do Not Change Your Address Through This Link.)

Online renewal is not yet available for ARNPs. ARNPs cannot renew their RN license online. An ARNP renewal application is mailed to the licensee's address of record approximately sixty (60) days prior to license expiration. Contact Iowa Board of Nursing Email if you have not received an ARNP renewal application.

For persons who wish to reactivate a nursing license, online reactivation is not available. Contact the Board of Nursing either by e-mail at Iowa Board of Nursing or call 515/281-3264 to request an application packet be mailed

Delivery and Processing Time

Online renewals are processed electronically, immediately upon completion of the online renewal process. As soon as the credit card transaction has been processed, licensees are able to access the Online Verification, and see that the license has been renewed. The wallet card will be printed and mailed within 3 - 5 working days.

Refund Policy

If you feel that your credit card has been charged in error, please contact 515-281-4823. If the credit card charge was valid but you wish to seek a refund, please note that the Iowa Administrative Code 655--3.1 defines license fees as nonrefundable. However, licensees may request a waiver of any administrative rules, by following the necessary procedures.

Privacy Policy

By law, license information is a matter of public record, and the general public can request rosters of Iowa licensees. However, Social Security Numbers and credit card information is confidential, and is never shared or open to public inspection. State of Iowa employees cannot view, access or retrieve full credit card information.
